Stanislas goal was one to remember

Goals against our local rivals are always going to be met with greater enthusiasm than any other and looking back at past winners of the Clarets Mad Goal of the Season will see Micah Hyde's goal from the 2005 cup tie listed.

But this one certainly didn't win it because of who it had been scored against; it won the September award because it was simply an outstanding goal involving some outstanding moving of the ball between Kieran Trippier, David Jones, Danny Ings and Stanislas who ended it with a superb shot into the bottom corner.

On the message board, poster braindead suggested it was the easiest ever choice while mkmel thanked me for putting it at the top of the list to avoid having to scroll down (they had been listed in chronological order).

The goal, as expected, won a landslide victory, polling 75.3% of the vote, but I suppose I can confirm this is the lowest percentage this season so far for a winning goal. It is only the second but Ings won the August vote for his goal at Derby with a 79.9% share.

Even so, 75.3% is a massive return against 10 other goals, and fully deserved which meant Ings, who scored five of the September goals, had to settle for second place with his first in the cup against Nottingham Forest. That goal polled 11% of the vote.

The remaining nine goals were way behind the field. Sam Vokes, the Clarets Ma d Player of the Month for September, took third place with his second goal against Charlton, a volley from a Stanislas right wing corner.

The Stanislas goal will now join the Ings goal at Derby with guaranteed places in the goal of the season vote next May.

The next vote on Clarets Mad will be the man of the match for the Ipswich game on Saturday.
