Stan set to give youth development a hand

What was once a flagship in English football our training facility at Gawthorpe has fallen behind after years of neglect. It is hard to see where even a penny was spent during the years of the Teasdale administration, a period that saw nothing but decay there.

It has been our training ground for not far short of fifty years and it is now in desperate need of investment something that the club have spoken about in the recent past. In fact a Gawthorpe Fund was set up for supporters and supporters’ groups to help raise the much needed money.

With the current financial situation that investment is hardly likely to happen and there has been little, if any, mention of the fund in recent times. It is though a fund that Clarets Mad are hoping to raise some money for in the New Year.

But Stan has today promised to donate all profits from his new book "Stan the Man", which is released today, to the fund and said, "Whatever I get out of the book will go towards the Gawthorpe Fund. I didn’t do the book for personal gain."

He went on to say that his ambition is to get Burnley into the Premiership but perhaps his donation towards Gawthorpe could reap a much greater reward if it helps to restore the youth policy at Turf Moor.
