The paper says that having had his team building plans scuppered due to the financial position at the club Stan has now been asked to take a pay cut and refused. Quite how this means he will leave the club this week is difficult to work out but if you believe the Mail on Sunday then this is exactly what is going to happen.
At the end of the game yesterday Stan stood at the edge of the pitch and waited for all the Burnley players to come off. That took some time as the players came over to the fans but he was still there and shook hands with each and every one of them. Who knows why but it is not something Stan would normally do.
It all makes you wonder just how bad the financial situation is at Turf Moor with rumours last week that Chief Executive Andrew Watson had also refused when asked to take a drop in pay and more season ticket holders trying hard to get some money back for now unwanted tickets.
