Special thanks to the Ex-Clarets in Sport

Here at Clarets Mad we would have been looking forward to the game and one article that would have been appearing would have been a welcome to the special Foundation guest, an ex-Claret.

This season we have been delighted to write about many ex-Clarets who have graced the Turf again this season in order to make the half time draw and it is time to say a big thankyou to those responsible for getting them there.

It is all down to the Ex-Clarets in Sport but in particular their secretary Veronica Simpson. This season Veronica has spent hours and hours making sure there was someone there to entertain the Foundation members in their less than exclusive bar and to make the half time draw. At times she has been chasing things right up to Saturday morning when there have been last minute hitches and always come up trumps with a former player.

One of the most entertaining this season was Jamie Hoyland who had a couple of things to say about former managers Jimmy Mullen, Adrian Heath (was he really in charge?) and the Chris Waddle/Glenn Roeder partnership. We also had a very special guest for the Forest game when we were entertained by scout Jack Hixon who had just celebrated his 81st birthday.

To Jack and all the ex-Clarets and particularly to Veronica for her sterling work we would like to say a special thanks. And for you Veronica your favourite ex-Claret pictured.
