Skipper back in Scotland squad

Steven Caldwell
Caldwell missed the first seven league games this season after suffering a groin injury on international duty in their World Cup qualifier against Norway in Oslo, his first appearance for Scotland in over three years.

Fit again, and back in the Burnley side, Caldwell has been called up for this friendly as George Burley starts to get a squad together for the European qualifiers that will start next season and he and Fletcher have both been named in a 23 man squad for the game being played at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Graham Alexander has missed out, and at the age of 38 it may well be that his international career has been brought to an end with Scotland's failure to reach the World Cup Finals.

Their squad for the Wales friendly is: Craig Gordon (Sunderland), Jamie Langfield (Aberdeen), David Marshall (Cardiff), Christophe Berra (Wolves), Gary Caldwell (Celtic), Steven Caldwell (Burnley), Daniel Fox (Celtic), Alan Hutton (Tottenham), Stephen McManus (Celtic), Lee Wallace (Hearts), Steven Whittaker (Rangers), Don Cowie (Watford), Graham Dorrans (West Brom), Darren Fletcher (Manchester United), Ross McCormack (Cardiff), James McFadden (Birmingham), Barry Robson (Celtic), Kevin Thomson (Rangers), Steven Fletcher (Burnley), Kevin Kyle (Kilmarnock), Kenny Miller (Rangers), Steven Naismith (Rangers), Derek Riordan (Hibernian)
