Sing up for the Clarets

Last week, led by regular poster Socrates, a good number on the board were trying to arrange their own singing area inside the Turf for the match that will be televised by Sky.

The idea was to have it in the Harry Potts Longside Upper at the Cricket Field End but the club have now formally given the all clear for such an area and it will be in the third block in the stand NU3.

They have also made the sensible decision to remove the ‘Category A’ status for the night which means that the season ticket vouchers can be used for people to get on for a fiver and it will be ‘Kids for a Quid’ for the first time since the 2000/01 season.

Season ticket holders who want to move into the singing area from other parts of the ground can do just as regular inhabitants of NU3 can move out. You can just call into the ticket office to change your seats either way.

Tickets are now on open sale for the game and you should ask for a ‘Singing Area’ ticket if you want to join the group.

This is an opportunity for those fans who want to help restore Turf Moor’s atmosphere to give it a go and hopefully the club will respond by removing the fairground ideas for the evening and turn the place back into a real football ground.

So if you want to help create the atmosphere – and drown out the dreadful 500 Miles – then get your tickets for NU3.

Socrates said, “Who would have thought ten years ago that we would need somebody to whip the crow up before a game, we always used to scoff at clubs like this and felt it was the preserve of "Micky Mouse" clubs such as Watford and, dare I say it, Blackburn.

“This game is live on Sky, and it would be fantastic if we could make some real noise for the dozens of people watching at home. All those who have bemoaned the lack of atmosphere now have an opportunity to do something about it, get involved in this.”
