Sinclair set to be a Claret

He is the player Steve Cotterill spoke about last night when he said he was close to another deal and it was all set to be completed this afternoon with the 32-year-old having a medical.

If he comes through that successfully then he is likely to line up for the Clarets tonight against Everton.

Sinclair was one of the three Leicester players caught up in the ridiculous nonsense in Spain earlier this year and played in fourteen Premiership games last season. His last visit to Turf Moor was in March 2003 when he scored the Burnley goal in a 2-1 defeat against Leicester with a trademark own goal.

He is another vastly experienced player who started his career with Chelsea and played 169 league games for them, plus six appearances for West Brom in a short loan spell in 1991.

Six years ago he signed for Martin O’Neill at Leicester for £2 million and went on to play another 164 league games for the Foxes before being released by Micky Adams at the end of last season.

Steve Cotterill has been searching for another defender with Robert Page, Georges Santos and Dave Walton all having come under consideration. But it is Sinclair, who he worked with last season at Leicester, he has turned to as his latest signing.

Cotterill’s new signing is expected to wear the number five shirt.
