Showboating Pughy in top form

He made his debut for them as a late substitute at Stevenage back in mid-November but has been in the starting line up for the four games since. And on Saturday he made all the headlines with a goal, a man of the match performance and a piece of showboating that Harriers’ boss Stuart Watkiss would like to see on next week’s Soccer AM.

“I thought Pugh was great today,” Watkiss said and then went on to talk about the neat back heel flick from him that led to the first goal. “He was just about to get a telling off from us for his little trick in the first half until the goal went in.

“To be fair to the lad it was simply a moment of brilliance. I don’t know if Soccer AM will get hold of it but it was certainly worthy of a ‘Showboat’ special. You could see his confidence was boosted by that goal and it really drove him on, he took his own goal well and he can be proud today.”

The goal was a header but it is the flick that everyone is talking about, particularly with it leading to a goal, but he played well throughout and one fans’ report has given him their man of the match award.

He’ll be back home next week, but still playing for Kidderminster. Their next game is at Accrington, the ground where Pughy has been playing for our reserves for the last year.
