Shoebridge leaves the Valley for Ipswich

Last updated : 17 March 2009 By Tony Scholes
Last season he had an excellent game in our game there but this season his performance was blighted by the strange decision that ruled out a Martin Paterson goal after he had first overruled his assistant and given it.

These are, to date, his only Burnley games since becoming a Football League referee at the beginning of the 2006/07 season.

He's not a referee who is likely to dominate a game with a string of cards and this season in 28 games he's handed out just three red cards and 55 yellow cards. The players sent off are Matthew Connolly in QPR's 1-0 win at Norwich, Steven O'Leary of Hereford as his side fell to a 4-0 loss at Oldham and Yeovil's Aaron Brown as they bowed out of the FA Cup at Stockport.

All of the red cards have gone to away team players and of those yellow cards, 23 have gone to home team players and 32 to away team players.

Not a bad referee from what I've seen, but he should believe what he sees when he's better placed than his assistant.

He will be assisted by David Bushell (London) and Adrian Sannerude (Sufflok) with the fourth official Matthew McLaughlin (Bedfordshire).
