It is now confirmed that Rob Shoebridge from Derbyshire will referee the New Year's Day home game against Sheffield United with Graham Scott (Oxfordshire) getting the game at Reading.
Shoebridge's last Burnley game was at Ipswich in March 2009 but for Scott, who sent off four players in his last game, it will be a first Burnley fixture.
