Shackell voted our best at QPR

On a day when we failed to score, both strikers are prominent in the result as is George Boyd who probably missed our best chance of the afternoon when he skied a shot over the bar.

Boyd it was who won the man of the match with 43.3% of the vote and that was ahead of Ashley Barnes who took second place with 18.3%. Jason Shackell was third. He had an 11.1% share with Dean Marney in fourth place with 7.2% of the vote.

Boyd didn't make the top four in the player ratings and neither did Marney. Shackell was the winner with a rating of 7.33 out of 10 and he was followed by Danny Ings whose rating was 7.14.

Barnes was third with a rating of 7.05, just ahead of goalkeeper Tom Heaton who took fourth place; his rating was 6.95 out of 10.

Shackell won the most votes towards the player of the year. He won seven points with Barnes and Boyd both collecting five points. Ings got three points with both Heaton and Marney winning one point.

That's certainly closed things up at the top of the player of the year table. Arfield, who has led all season, is now only three points clear of last season's player of the year Shackell. Ings is a further five points behind.

The next vote will be for the Southampton game this Saturday and will be underway around an hour after the final whistle.
