In a game played in the worst conditions we've seen since our trip to Blackpool last season, it was a game of few chances with defenders able to shine, and our two central defenders were very much to the fore.
Shackell secured 30.3% of the vote to win the man of the match with defensive partner Duff in second place with 28.5%. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton took third place with 11.8% and substitute Keith Treacy, scorer of our equaliser, was fourth with 9.5% of the vote.
The same four players took the top four places in the player ratings, and in the same order. A rating of 8.07 out of 10 gave Shackell first place with Duff's rating of 7.20 giving him second place. Heaton, in third place, had a rating of 7.07 and Treacy was fourth; his rating was 6.47 out of 10.
Shackell, therefore, picked up the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Duff won six points, there were four points for Heaton and two points for Treacy.
Those points have tightened things up at the top of the table with Shackell now having reduced Sam Vokes's lead at the top to just six points.
Saturday evening will see the start of the man of the match vote for the Nottingham Forest game and from next Wednesday there will be an opportunity to vote for the February Goal of the Month with eight goals already having been scored during the month.
