It seems to me that too many people are doing their own sums then moaning over a couple of pounds other the course of a season. Simply drink one less pint each match day and there is a saving of £46 straight away!

The season tickets have gone up 3% - big deal. The vast majority of people will have pay rises greater than this every year.

The pay on the turnstile prices remain the same - Good, so they should. For a walk on fan the cheapest seat is £16. Increasing this is likely to drive away these fans that provide the club with a constant cash flow throughout the year.

The simple fact of the matter is that if people support the club and can appreciate what financial problems they are currently in there should be no question about coughing up this minor increase.

from Simon Kenyon

With regards to the season ticket issue, I confess I am tempted to buy one again, after not renewing for the current season for various reasons.

The club seem to be trying to do what they can to ensure enough money to survive the season, yet keep the supporters happy. At least it seems to show Dave Edmundson does listen to the fans, just as Andrew Watson didn't.

Most prices seem to rise with inflation, except the council tax obviously!!!, so it seems ok, especially as I can claim the full time student discount again. The only worry is what standard of football we will be watching next season, 1st division we hope.

from David Cott

Loyalty doesn’t have a price – would still buy a season ticket in the Conference! Let’s just get on with it and see where it takes us (I’ve heard that before somewhere).

from Terence Park

The club are giving me more reasons to buy a ticket (I would have bought it anyway!). Pity the club aren't able to unwind the season ticket distortions between stands.

The club are looking at how to build value into the unused parts of the season ticket book. This is encouraging.

from Dave Wynne

I am pleased with the season ticket prices and packages and will be renewing mine on the 1st of April as I know how important it is to put our money into the club for the planning of next season.

I would have bought them anyway as I am a Burnley fan and the club plays a very important part in my life. I will also be adding another ticket to our present allocation too.

from Steve Winkley

The club's precarious position at the foot of Division One highlights the major problem with the current discount system: fans must decide on renewal before they know which division Burnley will be gracing next season.

Given the club's parlous financial state, the overall season ticket package seems equitable. But a 3% increase for Division Two football would be a very bitter pill to swallow.

from Graham Coxall

I fall into the category of being able to afford a season ticket, so I will renew.

I believe that the club have listened to fans views and whilst the discounts/offers aren't going to suit everyone an effort has been made. I genuinely believe that Dave Edmundson does listen and is trying to rectify some past mistakes.

Having supported Burnley since 1963, it will take a lot more than signing Lenny Johnrose again to make me stop supporting my club in whatever way I can, including the new Supporters Trust venture.

from Joe Bedford

I know for most people money is the deciding factor, however we all have to do some soul searching.

Lets not forget the threat we were under recently of administration, the players that Stan had to get rid of at the beginning of the season in order to cut the wage bill, and the marvellous wheeling and dealing he has done with loans.

I know at this stage we don't know if it’s division one or two next season but sometimes we lose sight of just how hard it has been for everyone, including you the supporters.

Ok so some of you may prefer to pay on match days rather than buy a Season Ticket, you may even decide enough is enough and not attend, however before you do make that decision I ask you to think about your Club.

By paying now for a Season Ticket you are putting much needed funds in place for next year’s budget, that money will decide who, if any players can be brought in, it also goes towards keeping your club in business.

Without it what would we all do on a Saturday! The thought just does not bear thinking about. So come on dig deep and buy a Season Ticket, lets all pull together in order to ensure Burnley Football Club is here for years to come.

from Dan Heap

I think it is a good package. Certainly the vouchers to use for inviting friends is great, as is keeping the price for the youngsters down.

Hopefully we can provide the funds to enable the club to get back on a sounder financial footing, and give people the quality of players they think we should be signing - Roberto Carlos and Thierry Henry for example.

In all seriousness I am happy with the deal and will be renewing.

from Neil Thompson

My friend and I didn't renew our season tickets at the end of last season, instead we have paid on the gate for all the home games.

I think the club have made a fair attempt to persuade people like me to buy a season ticket again and after talking to my mate this morning we have agreed that we will buy two season tickets for next year.

It is debatable whether the prices represent a good deal for existing season ticket holders but I would comment that at least the club appear to be trying very hard to keep everyone happy (and we all know that doing this is virtually impossible).

Having spent this season as a 'walk on' I would like to remind season ticket holders that the advantages of having a season ticket are more than just financial

  • Knowing where you are going to sit
  • Knowing who you are likely to be sat next to
  • Not queuing for a match day ticket
  • Priority for cup/away games

I would strongly recommend buying a season ticket even if it was more expensive than buying match day tickets.

from Mike Beckett

As whenever money is involved the subject becomes emotional and it is a lot of money to find for many people.

However, the club are taking time to present and explain not only the package but also their thinking.

Money is obviously crucial to the club and I dare say they would ask for more than 3% if they thought that they could get it and I wish that they could.

Overall am satisfied with what the Club are proposing and as a die hard will certainly be renewing my season tickets.

Keep up the good work!

from Jonas Brown

All in all I think this is about as much as we can hope for from the club.

Because I take 3 children I am pleased they have held these prices down. I realise for people who have no young children this may not be important but we must remember these are the people we hope will put money into the coffers in the future.

With finances as they are I would not have expected any great movement either way so the additional offers are nice.

I am sure there will be many people who will not be happy with the changes - but then again for some even if entrance was free they would find something to complain about.

from Peter Bateman

The discount period is too short. Most clubs here in the West Midlands allow existing season ticket holders until mid-June to renew at the discounted price. What do our Lancashire neighbours do?

If I remember rightly this issue has been raised with the club before. I can understand the need to generate cash flow but not the wasting of scarce resources on the likes of Johnrose.

Secondly, the benefits are of limited use to certain categories of supporter. Discounts at the Leisure Centre are of no use to people like me who live 120 miles from Burnley and discounts on replica shirts are of no use to older supporters who tend not to wear them (Rocky excepted!).

And as for vouchers for food and drink up to half an hour before kick off. I would need to leave the Bridge by 2.15 to benefit , which goes against the grain for a card carrying CAMRA member.

from Martin Quinn

Match day prices stay the same? My season ticket goes up 3%? I get just over 3 free games if I buy before the end of April?

Now I have been a season ticket holder coming up to 30 years. Never missed. Always threatened to, but never missed.

It's very cunning of the club to keep playing the "loyalty" card but there comes a time when simple mathematics come into the reckoning.

Holidays, sickness, wife's birthday, franchise @ home (possibly) there you go - bang goes my saving.

Examine the scenario; a game gets called off, for arguments sake "a bit windy" now as a season ticket holder I'll probably go to the rearranged game be it on a Tuesday night because I've paid up front. Next season same scenario I could sit at home, sacrifice my "free" hot drink (wow!) and listen as the magic unfolds on Radio Shamcashire.

Now I love this club, my dad, and his dad before him also. And there have been times in this tempestuous love affair when I take a step back and question WHY?

Sure there have been good times, sure facilities have vastly improved, but when it gets down to why I turn up - the actual football - you got to admit the football played is pretty poor fair and quite simply irrespective of the "incentives" being offered you have to ask the question is it worth it.

Coming on the Turf is becoming a routine chore, but when I have to pay more to turn up when some players who are paid can't be bothered to turn up.

I definitely will not be renewing next year (then I might) no I won't, Ah well I suppose by the Derby game we'll have signed some young starlet . . . . . . Oh No Lenny

Well that's love (actually)

From Susan Moore

They haven’t listened about the number of free games. Why is the Bob Lord the same price on match days yet £39 cheaper than JH Upper for a season ticket?

I can understand the need to collect money up front given the financial situation but why not warn people in advance and what do we do if we go into division 2?

From Dave Thomas

That's quite a bonus - concessions for the 60 year olds rather than 65. Some of us are just months away from the big 6 0. I'd say concession prices are a bargain and to reduce it to age 60 is a bigger giveaway than at first appears.

On the whole it looks a good package and very fair.

Maybe the Golden Ticket idea could have been done twice a season a second one at Christmas for example. Take out the 500 cash and the holiday prize it doesn't actually cost them anything.

Its a package that even though I can't get to any August games becomes attractive to me whereas in the past it didn't.

from Chris Davies

That rules me out again this year it is a much better deal not getting one.

This season I have missed just two games and because of all the incentives it has all worked out a lot cheaper and I’ve not had to pay up front.

No increase for match days yet 3% increase for the most loyal supporters – get real. Is this to pay for Stan’s Spanish jolly or for our new top signing Lenny Johnrose?

Worked it out that I’ll be able to go on next season for a fiver a time all season. I have enough mates who will be daft enough to buy season tickets and let me use these vouchers.

Sorry Burnley but after 20 years of support I need something in return before I shell out and you have not offered it. A trip to Spain for Stan and his mates and yesterday’s signing of Lenny Johnrose will do you no good in trying to sell season tickets.

from Meg Fawcett

I will renew whatever the price or the offers, the reason: I support Burnley and want my club to continue.

The offers are a great improvement on the last few seasons with a bait at the end of it re the golden ticket.

You are doing your best within a financial nightmare. Well done for making the most on the back off a nightmare scenario and season.

from John Clerkin

So the club sign some of Ternent’s mates and although we may be in a different division next year put prices up by inflation.

So we may be paying more money for Stan’s mates to pay their mortgages. I'm outa here, no more money from me.
