Season ticket offer not what it seems

Upstairs for the cheap seats
Just for a moment we thought the club had listened to the fans, we thought they had got it right, we thought they had done a sensible u-turn.

But no, that is not the case. Apparently the club have decided that supporters who buy season tickets in the Jimmy McIlroy Stand Upper Tier are valued more than supporters who sit elsewhere and as such those who have not renewed in that area have seen the discount period return until the end of June.

It is fantastic to see the club realise the folly of having a cut off date for April for season ticket discounts but it seems incredible that only one area has been selected.

In a statement today the club said,

"The Club has looked at the number of renewals in the Family Stand and as an added incentive have now made an offer to season ticket holders last season who have not yet renewed.

"Children are the fans of the future and the reason that this stand has been selected for the offer."

The fact is that children, to quote our revered Chief Executive, are already more than well looked after with low priced season tickets and the price increase at the end of the discount period was minimal for them.

Simply this is nothing to do with children because we are aware of adults, those who do not accompany children, who have been sent letters with this offer.

I find it incredible that some supporters can be discriminated against in this way and we call on Burnley Football Club to be fair and re-instate the discount for all areas of the ground. Supporters cannot be thought of better than others because of where they sit.
