Season ticket discount returns

Ticket Office - reopened for discounts
Season ticket sales have not been disappointing, they have been disastrous with the numbers down by thousands on what the club told Clarets Mad they were both hoping for and expecting.

That was something of a surprise, a blind man on a galloping horse could clearly see that many season ticket holders weren’t even turning up for games they had paid for and certainly weren’t ready for shelling out for a new one just as the club conceded seven goals at home against an already relegated club.

The club’s hierarchy, through Chief Executive Andrew Watson, held firm despite pleas and warnings from fans and the club found themselves selling 30% less tickets. Even in the last days of April they chose not to extend the discount, instead issue warnings via their own web site that the discount was coming to a close.

Even on the last day there were no queues worth mentioning as the discount period closed.

But there is always hope and the directors have now decided to re-introduce the discount period until the end of June, another three weeks where supporters who haven’t renewed can do so at the April price.

There has been no formal announcement of this as yet but those season ticket holders who have not renewed are being contacted by letter. We believe that the discount price will apply to renewals only and not to any new season ticket holders.

Clarets Mad have already heard from season ticket holders who renewed in April who claim this is unfair on them but we don’t go along with that at all and applaud the club for putting right what was clearly a wrong.

There is a strong belief by many that the club do not understand the fans and that is clearly the case as far as some influential members of staff are concerned. It is that sort of attitude and lack of understanding that causes these problems in the first place.

Well done to the directors for putting right this wrong – a decision fully supported by Clarets Mad.
