On that occasion the first leg was at Bloomfield Road and the Clarets outplayed their opponents, then in a higher division, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with goals from Winston White and Peter Mumby.
It was a different story though in the second leg at Turf Moor on 29th August 1989 as we went out after a 1-0 defeat with a second half goal from distance that Chris Pearce somehow made a complete mess of.
That season they became the first club ever to knock the Clarets out of both major knock out competitions, in January we lost 1-0 at Bloomfield Road in the FA Cup, so this is a chance for some revenge.
