No go for Richard Edghill - Stan wants better
Both joined the Clarets for pre-season training and both have impressed, we have received some excellent reports of Iqbal who we are told is let down only by his first touch.

However Stan has decided not to sign either saying that he needs better although accepting that both are good players.

That will certainly mean more trialists coming in and will certainly have us all waiting with some interest as to who will be in the squad for the Isle of Man tournament. Last year as the club appeared to be facing crisis Stan was able to leave all of the younger players behind when we went off to the sunshine island but this time it is certain that some of those youngsters will be on the ferry come Saturday.

Matt O’Neill and Richard Chaplow have both made their first team debuts and it will be no surprise to see them in the squad along with Joel Pilkington and possibly Damien Hindle. And he could still spring a surprise, as he did two years ago when three trialists were included in Alan Moore, Tony Ellis and Dimitri de Condé.

The official site is this morning still suggesting that Michael Stewart could be in the squad although he played for Forest again last night in France against Libourne in a 1-1 draw and is said by the Nottingham club to be hoping to win a contract there.

The squad will be leaving on Saturday so we should know soon who is on the boat and who’s not.
