Scunthorpe's Paterson keen on move

Whilst one has had a few very contradictory and hardly believable tantrums in trying to engineer himself a move out of Turf Moor the other has reacted quietly and sensibly as Burnley try to keep him in the Championship.

We've had two offers turned down for Scunthorpe striker Martin Paterson, the second of which angered their acting chairman Rex Garton. Throughout all this there was nothing from Paterson until yesterday and then via his agent he gave the impression that he would be very interested in a move to Burnley.

"Martin has heard about the interest in the media," said his agent Gary Mellor, who added: "He would love to stay and play his football in the Championship and Burnley's a good club so we will see how things develop."

Mellor went on to say: "When he signed for Scunthorpe, ahead of a number of other clubs, one of the reasons was that the chairman said he wouldn't stand in his way of progressing. No one has contacted us to say anything on the bids but we have noted Scunthorpe's comments.

"Martin has asked to see me this week to discuss the situation as he's got a year left on his contract and has a chance, it would appear, to stay in the Championship."

It certainly looks as though Paterson could be keen on the move, just as Lafferty is keen to move on to either Rangers or Wolves. There's just different ways of going about it, and I think from the reaction this week it is clear which is the better of the two ways.
