Scunthorpe choose replacement for Laws

And that successor is incredibly Brian Laws who has returned to Glanford Park as manager just twenty days after being shown the door.

All the good money was on former Blackburn and Scotland defender Colin Hendry winning his first management role and it seems as though the bookies had it right again, he was all set to be offered the job until a board room bust up changed all that.

Chairman and major shareholder Steve Wharton handed over the reigns last December and left the board. However, he has not been happy at the way things have been going since and so in dramatic changes yesterday he has returned as Chairman and that has forced the resignation of no less than four other directors.

The two remaining directors have pledged their full support in what looks very much like a yes Mr. Chairman, no Mr. Chairman, three bags full Mr. Chairman scenario.

Wharton immediately scrapped plans to appoint Hendry, he apparently already had his bags packed, and reappointed Lawsy who had gone after a run of just three wins in eighteen games.

Knowing Laws so well you have to say the faith is overwhelming, having been boss at Scunthorpe for over seven years they have this time given him a long term contract until – that’s right the end of this season.

Lawsy is back and as yet there are no rumours of any chicken sandwiches being thrown or players being made to strip off in the car park. It is believed though that he is trying to get the pitch frozen in time for the next home game.
