Scott joins Clarets on trial

Manager Steve Cotterill had hinted that a trialist would be joining the rest of the players for pre-season training and there with the rest of the lads was Livingston midfielder Scott McLaughlin.

The 20-year-old started his career with Hamilton Academicals before moving to SPL club Livingston where he made his debut at the end of the 2002/03 season in a 6-2 defeat at Motherwell in which James McFadden, now at Everton, scored a hat-trick.

Last season he added another 21 league and cup appearances and scored his first SPL goal in a home match against Dundee United although two late goals condemned them to a 3-2 defeat.

He is likely to be the only trialist at Burnley this summer, Cotterill says he doesn’t particularly like bringing in a lot, and will be looking to try and win a deal with us.
