Scott at the Amex

He became a Football League referee at the beginning of the 2008/09 season, starting with a League Two game between Barnet and Chesterfield and he was allocated one Championship game that season, QPR's 1-0 home defeat against Norwich.

It was January 2011 before he refereed Burnley in the only away game we played under Stuart Gray's temporary management. He gave the impression that afternoon that he was always more likely to lead to the home team and that was certainly reflected in that we received three of the four yellow cards.

He's not afraid to use his cards and last season, at Coventry, there were nine in total. We got five of the eight yellow cards and to add to that Coventry's Gael Bigirimana received a straight red.

He's always been a referee keen to get his cards out although this season he has been somewhat quieter with 81 yellow cards and five red cards in 29 games.

A total of 30 yellow cards have gone to home team players and 51 to away team players. He's refereed nine Championship games and all but one of the red cards have come in those games. He sent off Huddersfield's Jack Hunt in a 4-0 defeat at Millwall and Christophe Berra of Wolves as they lost 2-1 at Watford.

The other two were Damien Delaney of Crystal Palace and Huddersfield's Anthony Gerrard who were both red carded in a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

Scott's last game was just two days ago when he refereed the JP Trophy game that saw Crewe win through to Wembley despite losing the second leg 2-0. There were four yellow cards in that game with both sides getting two of them. Crewe's Abdul Osman and Brad Inman were joined by Joe Murphy and Leon Clarke of Coventry.

Looking at his record, I think it is very likely there will be some cards tomorrow, and that's no surprise in any case in a game between Brighton and Burnley.

The assistant referees are Ryan Atkin (London) and William Bull (Hampshire). The fourth official is Justin Amey (Dorset).
