Scotland call for Jamie Frost

Last updated : 02 October 2013 By Tony Scholes

Jamie, who qualifies for Scotland through his dad's side of the family, received a late call to join the squad last Sunday for three days.

Coached by former Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia, he joined players from Scottish clubs but also seven other players based with English clubs, six in the Premier League, including Burnley born goalkeeper Ryan Fulton who is with Liverpool.

Frost joined a 28 player squad that was already preparing for three European Under-19 qualifiers and it had already been cut to 18 for the games all to be played next week. However, he's expected to get another call up next month for a camp with the under-18s.

Last season he played in the youth team at Burnley, scoring nine goals in league and cup, playing in the two big FA Youth Cup ties against the Manchester clubs at Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium, and this while still an under-16 player.

This season, his first as a scholar, has seen him go straight into the development squad for whom he scored four goals in pre-season.

It's always fantastic news to hear of our young players getting international calls and we send our congratulations to Jamie.
