Santos taking the short route

The Clarets have been conducting their transfer business quietly and professionally this summer and more than once Steve Cotterill has sprung a surprise for most supporters with the announcement of a signing.

That didn’t apply with Santos though as Ipswich decided to tell the world which clubs they had given permission to speak to the player. It really does make you wonder just how Sheep Dip runs that club at Portman Road.

Whether Burnley did ever hold talks with him we don’t know, that is between Burnley FC, the player and his representatives, but it is certain that we were never in the running once Santos called into the petrol station and bought himself a road map.

Once other clubs showed an interest, again broadcast by Ipswich, Santos claimed that QPR were his first choice and not because of the opportunities available in their defence. No, because of the clubs apparently keen to sign him QPR was geographically the closest to Ipswich.

He’s got his wish too, he will be signing a two year deal with the West London club. And we’ve certainly got our wish too by signing Frank Sinclair who is a much better option than Santos.

By the way Georges – Portman Road to Turf Moor is 234 miles, Portman Road to Loftus Road is 79 miles. I think you’ve made the right choice.
