Same referee as last season

It will be Oliver's third Burnley game and the previous two have indicated that this is an over fussy referee who nit picks too often, and subsequently prevents the game from flowing. He's not over eager with the cards but frustrates players with moving throws and free kicks a matter of a few feet.

He's in his third season on the league list and in 31 games last season he handed out just 75 yellow cards and only 3 red cards. He was certainly more likely to issue the cards to the away players, they collected 45 of them with the other 30 going to home team players.

The most number of cards he handed out in any one league game last season was four and he's also got this season off to a quiet start with just one yellow card in his only game to date, the League One clash between Blackpool and Nottingham Forest at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday of last week. That first card of the season went, not surprisingly, to a Forest player Julian Bennett.

So we can expect a game with not too many cards but a game with too many stoppages if he referees in the same way as he has done his previous Burnley games.

The assistants will be Paul Kettlewell (Lancashire) and Garry Wallace (Tyne & Wear) with the fourth official Jeremy Simpson (Lancashire).
