Sam gets League's February award

Unfortunately we couldn't make it a double but the news that Wigan boss Uwe Rösler had won the manager of the month award came as no surprise with them having picked up one point more than us during the month.

But for Vokes, who follows Danny Ings, the October winner, it is very much well deserved. Yes, he scored five goals, but besides that he's turned in some really outstanding performances, none more so than in the win against Forest which, in my view, is probably as well as I've ever seen him play.

He scored twice in that game. He also opened the month with two goals in the draw at QPR and scored the only goal of the game to give us the win and three points at Bolton.

Vokes was delighted with the award and said today: "It tops of a great month for myself and the clbu and it's right up there with my other achievements. It's massive.

"It's the first time I've got Player of the Month and it's been a good month for us picking up some good results home and away. It's clearly a big honour for myself, but also for the performances me and my teammates have put in."

Vokes, four times the player of the month this season on Clarets Mad, has already netted 17 league goals this season plus one in the FA Cup for Burnley. It's a total that has already blown his previous best season out of the water; he scored 12 times for Bournemouth during the 2007/08 season.
