Rowlands is back on the wanted list

Brentford's Martin Rowlands looked set to join the Clarets last summer but eventually the move fell through and he started with the Bees. Last week a late Jamie Cureton goal saw Reading win automatic promotion at their expense and now they have a second chance in the play offs.

They take on Huddersfield today in the semi-final but it is Rowlands who the Clarets are once again keeping an eye on. Brentford have already said they will need to sell and this will become more critical if they don't eventually win promotion.

Midfielder Rowlands is the player most likely to be sacrificed and the Clarets are still very keen to bring him to Turf Moor although the player himself has said that he wouldn't want to leave Brentford if they were promoted.

The 23 year-old Londoner joined Brentford for £45,000 from Farnborough in August 1998 and has made over 130 league appearances in the four seasons since his move. He has also contributed 19 goals from midfield with 7 of them coming this season.

He has played just 23 league games this season but was out for three months from late November to late February through injury. He went straight back into the side after recovering from the injury and has remained there since. Depending on the outcome of the play offs though Rowlands could well be set to play his last game for Brentford in the next couple of weeks.
