Robinson's first for five years

Last updated : 11 March 2005 By Tony Scholes
It is something of a rare even for him to take charge of one of our league games and this will be the first for almost five years since we beat Colchester 3-0 at home early in the promotion season, the day Andy Payton scored his first Burnley hat trick.

He was though in charge of our Carling Cup First Round tie at Chesterfield last season when we gave him a long night with extra time and penalties before winning through. On that occasion he booked just one player from each side, Glen Little was Burnley’s player booked, and had a reasonably quiet night.

He’s had a non too busy start to the new season with just three yellow cards in his two games to date whilst last season in 31 games he handed out 88 yellow and 9 red cards.

One thing we do need to be very much aware of though is that Robinson is definitely a homer when it comes to handing out the cards and last season 51 of the yellow and 6 of the red cards went to away players. Having said that he is a referee that doesn’t often court controversy.

He will be assisted tomorrow by Graham Horwood (Bedfordshire) and David Naylor (Nottinghamshire).
