Robbie gives Clarets fans a Christmas bombshell

Blake recently pulled out of contract extension talks at Turf Moor as the club have had to fend off a number of offers for the captain. Firstly it was Nottingham Forest and more recently one offer after another from Wigan.

Twice Wigan have said the deal was dead but scandalously manager Paul Jewell has used all parts of the media to continue to unsettle Robbie with his constant references to the player wanting to sign for Wigan.

Nothing had come out of Turf Moor other than the repeated turning down of the offers and a plea from Barry Kilby to Dave Whelan to bring an end to it.

Now though Blake has spoken out and said he wants out of Burnley and wants to sign for Wigan, because he wants another chance of playing in the Premiership which he no longer feels he will get with the Clarets.

Wigan are currently top of the league and have been promotion favourites all season but there are certainly no guarantees that they will go up.

Burnley FC have made no comment as yet, although we don’t have to sell Blake it is almost certain that he will be on his way and highly probable that he has played his last game in a Claret & Blue shirt.

There’s no real point in keeping a player who doesn’t want to play for us and it is up to us to now go and negotiate the best deal possible. But Blake has to realise that if Wigan keep making ridiculously low offers he might still find himself not going there.
