Riordan - could still be a Claret

Riordan is not new to controversy and this week has hit out strongly at Celtic boss Gordon Strachan. He said that the only way he would get an opportunity now at the club was if he outlasted Strachan and has said that the manager won't put him in the side in case he scores goals and proves Strachan wrong.

Riordan said: "When I speak to him, he's nice to me and says all the things players want to hear about me being part of the plans but you know by his actions that he's talking rubbish," and added: "I went there thinking I was going to play. It's not like I just went there for the money, I wanted to play and I thought I would do well at Celtic with the amount of chances that teams like Celtic and Rangers create. I thought I would score a lot of goals and if I was given the chance every week I still believe I could. But I've just never had the chance."

The striker has now reported his club to the Scottish PFA for fining him £1,000 and it does look as though his time there is at an end. This will surely alert Owen Coyle and Burnley although it is believed there could be competition from Preston.

We offered £400,000 for him during January and then upped that offer late on the last day in January, but it was thought Celtic wanted around £1 million for the former Hibs player. He's under contract to Celtic until the end of the 2008/09 season and has spoken about staying until next January and then signing a pre-contract with an English club. I would think though there is every chance he will be on the move this summer and it could just be Burnley.
