Rhys tops the poll at Birmingham

Rhys Williams
Williams made his debut for the Clarets a week earlier against Charlton but had to drop out of the side for the FA Cup replay against West Brom not having signed in time. He was back in the side at Birmingham in the right back position at the expense of Kevin McDonald.

It was a performance where one player certainly didn't dominate the voting and Williams came out on top with 26.6% of the vote. Robbie Blake, in such good form recently, took second place with 21.6% whilst goalscorer Martin Paterson was third in the poll with 15.9% of the vote.

Two of those players featured in the top three in the player ratings. Williams again was the winner with a rating of 8.26 out of 10. Paterson was second, and his rating was 7.58 and just above Michael Duff who took third place with a rating of 7.53 out of 10.

That gives Williams the maximum six points, there are three points for Paterson, two for Blake and one for Duff.

The points mean Paterson has extended his lead at the top to ten points but his closest challenger is now very much Blake who has moved two points ahead of Chris Eagles having drawn level with him after the West Brom replay.

Voting is currently underway for the December Goal of the Month and will run until the end of tomorrow. The January Goal poll will be held during the next free midweek.
