Reserves start their home programme

Brian Jensen - plays his first reserve team game for the Clarets tonight
Having been relegated next season we find ourselves up against a non-league club for our first match and this comes after League Two side Rochdale beat us 4-1 at Rossendale two weeks ago in our only previous match this season.

Needless to say it is a young side but it includes the four players who have sat out seven first team fixtures on the bench without getting on the pitch along with new coach Mark Yates who will be making his first Turf Moor appearance since 1993.

Two of the new apprentices, Kyle Lafferty and Chris McCann will be in the side and this will be a Turf Moor debut for McCann.

Burnley will line up: Brian Jensen, Neal Trotman, Chris McCann, Ryan Townsend, Paul Scott, Marc Pugh, Joel Pilkington, Mark Yates, Matt O’Neill, Kyle Lafferty, Alex Taylor. Subs: Michael Hale, Nicky Platt, Cayne Hanley, Martin Reilly, Joe Booth.

There’s an ex-Claret in the opposition line up – Kevin Henderson who was a Chris Waddle signing for the Clarets. He was released at the end of Stan’s first season and moved to Hartlepool but signed for Carlisle during last season after an initial spell on loan.

The Carlisle team is:

Kieren Westwood, Martin Graham, Paul Arnison, Lee Andrews, Simon Grand, Paul Gardiner, Will McDonough, Peter Ferris, Kevin Henderson, Craig Farrell, Lee Hamilton. Subs: Matthew Bell, Adam Bradley, Peter Cawson, Rob Bainbridge.
