Reserves continue relegation battle

Luke Chadwick - gets a game in the reserves
The sad and sudden decline in our club is showing up just as clearly at reserve team level as it is with the first team. Less than two years ago we were one win away from winning the Championship, a year ago two big wins in the last week of the season assured we would not be relegated but this year it is looking odds on that we will be playing at a lower level next season.

It is another mix of experience, youth and trialists for tonight’s game. Alexander Davis gets another chance to impress on trial whilst Matthew Shaw arrives for his first game for the club.

Nathan Abbey will be in goal for his first Turf Moor appearance as a Claret and he will be keen to impress with surely the goalkeeper’s jersey up for grabs this weekend following Stan’s outburst at Brian Jensen.

Also back on the Turf is Lenny Johnrose for the first time since joining the club for a third time.

Luke Chadwick and Alan Moore will lend more experience to the side whilst the rest of the squad is made up of scholars and young professionals.

The team is: Nathan Abbey, Joel Pilkington, Ryan Townsend, Neal Trotman, Paul Scott, Marc Pugh, Lenny Johnrose, Alexander Davis, Luke Chadwick, Matthew Shaw, Alan Moore. Subs: Michael Hale, Danny Pitham, Gary Carter, Joe Booth, Alex Taylor.

Next week’s game at Hull has been brought forward a day and will now be played on Tuesday 13th April.
