Reserves beaten at the Crown Ground

Ian Cox - first pre-season game
The inexperience told against our ever improving hosts who have now got a squad together with a lot of Football League experience. We found it difficult to break them down and were eventually beaten 2-0 although the second goal came in the very last minute of the game.

Again the game attracted a healthy crowd to the Crown Ground at Accrington where Burnley fans were able to see the new stand which has opened for the 2002/03 season as Stanley look to bring it up to Conference standard.

It was just a pity that we didn't get the opportunity to see the floodlights in action as well, the last ten minutes in the dark proving difficult for those in the crowd with anything but excellent eye sight.

Overall though, as predicted, it was a much tougher game than last week at Nantwich.
