Reserves back in action

Last updated : 10 April 2002 By Tony Scholes

We are currently in fifth place in the table and are in with a good chance of winning this league. After tonight's game we have two games remaining and these are both next week against Barnsley (home) and Preston (away) who are currently first and fourth respectively. If we win those two games we will be champions of the Avon Insurance League Premier Division regardless of tonight's result.

The game at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium kicks off at 7:00 p.m. and not at 2:00 p.m. as previously advertised elsewhere.

A win tonight would see us climb above both Barnsley and Sheffield United and we would also go above Rotherham should they lose at Wrexham at the same time. It has without doubt been a good season for the reserves with Ronnie Jepson not knowing who is going to be available from one match to the next.

There have already been some games in the league this week and the results and fixtures are:

Monday 8th

Preston North End 1 Barnsley 5
West Bromwich Albion 1 Sheffield United 4

Tuesday 9th

Oldham Athletic 1 Port Vale 1

Wednesday 10th

Huddersfield Town v Burnley
Tranmere Rovers v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wrexham v Rotherham United
