Reserves and Youths Update

Last updated : 22 March 2002 By Tony Scholes

Our next game is this coming Wednesday, 27th March, when we take on Port Vale at Vale Park. Our hosts are struggling this season and are currently bottom of the league. In the home match against them earlier in the season we recorded our biggest win of the season, a 6-0 victory.

Alan Moore scored the first goal and the others were scored by John Williamson (2), Andy Payton (2) and a Lenny Johnrose penalty. Johnrose got some stick from the crowd after Williamson stepped up to take the penalty to try and complete his hat trick. With the score already 4-0 Lenny sent him packing and took it himself, it did not go down well at all with that night's gathering.

The reserve team results this week are;

Oldham Athletic 1 Barnsley 1
Port Vale 2 Rotherham United 3
Preston North End 1 Birmingham City 0
West Bromwich Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers (postponed waterlogged)Wrexham 1 Huddersfield Town 4

The youth team have gone back to the top of the Merit League Second Division, albeit for just a day, after a comprehensive victory over Carlisle United his afternoon at Gawthorpe. We have played two games more than most of the teams near the top of the league and we can expect to drop down the league tomorrow when the weekend games are played.
