Reserves and Youths Update

Last updated : 22 February 2002 By Tony Scholes

Only two games were played and they were both good news for the Clarets as Rotherham and Preston both suffered 3-0 defeats away from home.

Preston remain in third place whilst Rotherham stay fifth and like all those above us have now played more games than the Clarets.

The results were,

Huddersfield Town 3 Rotherham United 0
Oldham Athletic 3 Preston North End 0

Although still sixth the Clarets will go second if they win their game in hand.

There will have to be another fixture alteration for the Clarets, the home game against Sheffield United. This was scheduled for Wednesday 20th March but the first team game against Bradford City will now take place on that date. There is no new date for the reserve game as yet.

Since the Clarets won at Oldham on Monday in the Youth Alliance League there have been two further games played this week and the results were,

Wigan Athletic 3 Bury 1
Carlisle United 1 Preston North End 3 (played at Preston).

The Wigan result was a bad one for the Clarets as it pushes us back out of the top three and with the Rochdale game unlikely to be played we could ultimately lose that top three position.

This weekend's games are:

Burnley v Tranmere Rovers
Bury v Wigan Athletic
Rochdale v Blackpool

The Burnley v Tranmere game will be played at Tranmere's Ingleborough Complex due to a waterlogged Gawthorpe.
