Reserves and Youth Leagues under way

Last updated : 20 August 2002 By Tony Scholes

We stress Turf Moor because there were suggestions over the summer that they would be moved elsewhere with the club believed to have started negotiations with Accrington Stanley. Thank goodness they are continuing to play exactly where they are playing and that is on the Turf. One change though this season is the kick off time and that has now been brought forward 15 minutes with all home games starting at 7:00 p.m.

There has been one game played in the Avon Insurance League already, in Sheffield, but it was a Rotherham United home game. They are playing their games this season at the Don Valley Stadium and last week they were beaten 2-1 but Tranmere Rovers.

The Youth Alliance League has also started and all ten teams in the league played their first games on Saturday, the Clarets losing theirs 1-0 at home to Preston who along with Tranmere are one of the favourites.

The full results from Saturday were,

Burnley 0 Preston North End 1
Carlisle United 2 Bury 4
Rochdale 1 Tranmere Rovers 4
Stockport County 2 Blackpool 2
Wigan Athletic 2 Oldham Athletic 2

Our reserves and youth match coverage can once again this season be found in the Reserves/Youths which is within the Players and Fans section but the results, fixtures and league tables have been moved. They are now in Res/Youths Stats within Clarets Latest. This will make the results, fixtures and tables easier to find.
