Reeves back at Chesterfield

Reeves had been with Chesterfield since 1997 when Oldham took him on a month’s loan just before last Christmas. He scored three goals in three games and the Latics made the move permanent a week into the New Year. Reeves made the move to help out his club Chesterfield who were to benefit greatly from him no longer being on the wage bill.

He has failed to set Boundary Park on fire though and since the deal was made permanent he hasn’t scored a goal in ten league appearances. This season under new manager Iain Dowie he hasn’t featured in either of their games and today he agreed a three month return to Chesterfield.

A hero of the crowd there after joining them from Preston he scored 46 goals in 168 league games for them, he has scored more for Carlisle only. The fans will be delighted to see him return.

Chesterfield boss Dave Rushbury said, "Dave has bags of experience, gives us new options up front, and he really wants to come back. We have reached agreement with Oldham on a deal that we can afford, and Dave gets to play first team football instead of languishing in their reserves."

They will hope Reeves can give them a boost after losing their opening games at QPR 3-1 and at home to Swindon 4-2.
