Ready for the draw

For those looking for the supposedly easier tie, there are not many clubs remaining in the competition from the leagues below us. Only Luton and Southend are through from League One whilst league new boys Morecambe are the only representatives from League Two.

I'm sure the club will be looking for a big pay day and so a big Premier League team would go down well for many, a good home tie or perhaps the best money spinner of the lot, a trip to Old Trafford.

Last season we went out of the competition in the first round but for the four previous seasons we'd at least reached this third round stage, winning twice and losing twice. The two defeats have come in the West Midlands at Wolves and Villa but the two wins are nights we will find easy to recall.

In 2002/03 season we came from behind to beat Spurs 2-1 with goals from Robbie Blake and Steve Davis and two years ago the score was 3-1 against Aston Villa when our scorers were Graham Branch, Mo Camara and Jean-Louis Valois.

The teams going into the draw are:

Premier League: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Reading, Tottenham, West Ham.

Championship: Blackpool, Burnley, Cardiff, Charlton, Coventry, Hull, Norwich, Plymouth, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, West Brom.

League One: Luton, Southend.

League Two: Morecambe

Also Leicester or Nottingham Forest whose game was abandoned.

Today's draw takes place at lunchtime on Sky's Soccer Saturday and we'll report on it on our return from Colchester.
