Probert in charge of Cardiff game

Last Updated : 12-Apr-2009 by
It will be his second Burnley game this season after he took charge of our home game against Birmingham in October. He had a decent enough game that day as he had in his previous Burnley game at Barnsley last season.

Now an established Select Group referee those performances have been considerably better than his early Burnley games, particularly his first at Plymouth four seasons ago when he had something of a nightmare.

This season he's refereed 30 games in which he's red carded four players and yellow carded 82, 36 of them home team players and 46 away team players. All four players red carded have been away team players and two of them were in the same game.

That game was Cardiff's 1-0 defeat at QPR back in November when both Miguel Commingues and Darren Purse received their marching orders. Following appeal Cardiff were successful in getting Purse's red card overturned.

Probert will be assisted at Ninian Park by Andrew Newbold (Leicestershire) and Michael Murphy (West Midlands) and the fourth official will be Football League referee Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire) who was referee at our recent home game against Nottingham Forest.
