Premier League East at the Palace

Last updated : 05 October 2012 By Tony Scholes

Tomorrow will be just the second time we've been refereed by East. The other occasion was our 1-1 draw at Cardiff in February 2011. He had a decent enough game that night and I can't recall any problems other than our defence allowing Michael Chopra to score just before half time.

East joined the Football League ahead of the 2007/08 season but it was only last season when he started to get a decent number of Championship games. At the end of the season he led Huddersfield and Sheffield United out at Wembley for the League One play off final.

This season, and it was something of a surprise, he's been allocated two Premier League games. In his first at that level, Swansea's 2-2 home draw against Sunderland, he sent off Swansea's Chico Flores for a high challenge on Louis Saha.

Two weeks later he got his second Premier League game and this time sent off West Brom's Peter Odemwingie in their 3-0 defeat at Fulham. I don't think anyone watching that game could have any complaints as the West Brom man was rightly dismissed for kicking out at Sascha Riether.

Overall this season he's refereed twelve games. In those games there have been 34 yellow cards and the two red cards referred to above.  Of those, 15 have gone to home team players and 19 to away team players.

His last game was the League Two clash between Oxford and AFC Wimbledon last Tuesday, a game won 3-2 by Oxford. Jake Forster-Caskey and Jake Wright (Oxford) were yellow carded as were George Francomb, Steven Gregory and Will Antwi (AFC Wimbledon).

Roger East, in his one previous Burnley game, scored 65.00 out of 100 in RATE THE REF and that sees him in 30th place.

The assistant referees tomorrow are Gavin Muge (Bedfordshire) and Barry Holderness (Essex). The fourth official is Football League referee Andy Davies (Hampshire).
