Pompous is back

Bradford were the first club to go into administration following the collapse of the television deal last summer as Mr, Pompous finally came clean and admitted that he had run up debts of well in excess of £20 million.

Incredibly the former Scarborough chairman hung on in the hope that he would be able to continue but as the new season approached they came out of administration and he was finally ousted as Gordon Gibb from Flamingo Land took over.

We thought, we sincerely hoped, that we had seen the back of him but just when you thought it was safe to go out he is back with a vengeance and will be appointed as Chief Executive of Notts County Football Club next week.

As if the Nottingham club weren’t in enough trouble, in administration for months they thought they had seen the light at the end of the tunnel. They have finally found new owners in Frank Strang and Raj Bhatia and the new men and their spokesman Sam McEwan said today, "Geoffrey Richmond has agreed a deal with Notts County to become the new chief executive."

Not as though a change won’t be refreshing, the current regime are so far up themselves that rather than laugh at an April Fool’s Day joke on the Notts County Mad site they instead threatened the editor.

But Mr. Pompous does sound a bit like out of the frying pan into the fire. Please don’t let him get back into a position of power within the Football League though.
