Phil Tippy Gray joins the Clarets

After losing his place at Burnley he decided a move would be best and he signed a deal with Oxford United, then in the 2nd Division. It did not go well and they were relegated at the end of his first season.

Down in the bottom division he struggled to get a game last season and at one point was loaned out to eventual Conference Champions Boston United where hopefully his contract details were in order. At the end of the season he was released by Oxford and has since been looking for a new club.

Eventually he has found one in Dr. Martens club Chelmsford City who are known as the Clarets. He made his debut for them in a big pre-season game away to Heybridge Swifts. Chelmsford won it 4-0 and Gray scored the last goal from the penalty spot.

He thought not being in the team at Burnley would have a harmful effect on his international chances with Northern Ireland. Maybe Sammy McIlroy will spend time watching Dr. Martens games next season.
