Pender halts new Chief Executive

The new man we believe could be David Edmondson who has sporting connections in the county particularly in the cricket world although he has been seen at Turf Moor on many occasions covering Burnley games.

He was a teacher at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Blackburn and whilst there began broadcasting on Radio Lancashire as a reporter at both football and cricket matches.

It was whilst covering a cricket match that John Pender brought his report to a complete stop. Edmondson was covering a Lancashire cricket match at Lytham and was on air with his end of day summary when he had to be stopped because of a goal at Turf Moor.

John Pender had put through his own goal in the first minute of a pre-season fixture against Blackburn Rovers and the cricket had to be put on hold. When they finally returned Edmondson said, "You can interrupt me any time you like when Blackburn score against Burnley." The Clarets did go on to get a draw in the game with a Mike Conroy goal.

Edmondson left Radio Lancashire when he moved to Old Trafford to become secretary of Lancashire County Cricket Club and was there for a number of years. Since leaving he has since returned to do some further work on Radio Lancashire.

We now believe that he could be set to step in the shoes of Andrew Watson after the last Chief Executive chose to take a position in Division Three of the Nationwide League.
