Andy Payton
Having been rejected by the Clarets, Andy started his career with the Tigers as an apprentice and first won a place in their side as Burnley were desperately fighting relegation from the Football League in April 1987.

Four seasons later he netted 25 league goals, and this in a season when Hull finished bottom of the old second division under the management of Stan Ternent and Terry Dolan. Not bad, 25 goals in a relegated side.

He continued to score goals and he bettered that season total nine years later, again under the management of Stan Ternent, but this time at Burnley and this time in a promotion season between the same two divisions.

It proved to be his last full season in first team football, although he remained with the club for a further three years before retiring at the end of the 2002/03 season when his contract expired.

He's still a Burnley fan, still goes to a lot of games, and is always a welcome visitor. And as always he'll receive the best of welcomes at half time.
