Payton could be on his way to the other side of the world

No, we are not starting the Wigan rumour again and I think it is pretty clear that he won't be moving to Blackpool. The speculation suggests that Andy could be set to move to the other side of the world.

As an 18 year-old Payts spent a time in New Zealand playing for Porirua Viard in a loan deal from Hull. That was in the mid 80s but apparently Andy has indicated that he might be set to go back to New Zealand and end his playing days there.

Last season he started four league games for Blackpool during a loan spell around Christmas but his seventeen league appearances for the Clarets were all from the subs bench. In fact his last 31 league appearances for us have all been as a sub since his last league start in a Claret and Blue shirt in February 2001 at home to Crystal Palace.

He has one year remaining on his contract and it does appear unlikely that after fifteen months without a first team start, even when only one other striker has been available, he is unlikely now to win his place back in the first team at Turf Moor.

Whether Porirua Viard is a potential next and final stop on Andy's career remains to be seen.
