He'd signed for Burnley early in 1998 and his goals that season and in the next helped prevent us from falling back into the bottom division, and then in 1999/2000 they were the catalyst for our promotion.
He committed himself to a further three years with Burnley in the summer of 2000 but things didn't quite work out for him and by January in the first of those three years he'd started his last game for us, a 2-1 home win against Barnsley.
But those goals in the 1999/2000 season have more than ensured his place in this team. He collected 64.5% of the vote with Martin Paterson trailing way behind in second place with 9.9%.
A 5.9% share of the vote gave Gareth Taylor third place with Ian Wright, Andy Gray and Ade Akinbiyi just behind him.
That completes the team and now we just need to select a manager. Such is Burnley's policy to allow managers enough time to do the job we have just three candidates. The vote, as always, is on the front page of the site.
