Pawson to referee us for second time this season

The Swansea game was his fifth Burnley game and, without doubt, his best performance of the five. That's no surprise given that the previous four weren't particularly good with problems in all games.

There was the penalty we got that turned the Burton game, for an offence outside the box, the two early red cards at Brighton, the disallowing of a Junior Stanislas goal against Millwall having previously given it, but he did OK in the Blackburn game.

Before the game at Swansea he had a RATE THE REF rating of 48.74 out of 100 but that's risen to 58.51 with this most recent game included.

His first ever Premier League game was in March 2013, a 1-0 home win for Swansea against Newcastle but tomorrow will be his first ever Arsenal game.

All of his six games this season have been in the Premier League in which he's yellow carded 23 players and red carded two, both in the same game.

Of those yellow cards, 15 have gone to home team players and just eight to away team players. His last game was that between Crystal Palace and Chelsea at Selhurst Park, a game won 2-1 by Chelsea. He yellow carded all of Damien Delaney, Fraizer Campbell (both) and Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) whilst both teams finished the game with ten men.

In the minutes leading up to half time he dismissed Chelsea's Cesar Azpilucueta before showing Delaney a second yellow card. His handling of the game came under scrutiny after criticism from Neil Warnock who was far from happy that John Terry had escaped punishment prior to Delaney's first yellow card.

I suppose it wouldn't be Warnock if he wasn't criticising referees. As for Pawson, I'll be happy enough if he referees as well as he did at Swansea.

He will be assisted by Dave Bryan (Lincolnshire) and Derek Eaton (Gloucestershire). The fourth official is Jon Moss (West Yorkshire) who refereed our recent game at West Brom.
