Paterson offer increased

This morning Burnley have confirmed that a new offer has gone in for the striker who scored fourteen goals for Scunthorpe last season after he arrived from Stoke last summer following the sale of Billy Sharp to Sheffield United.

His goals haven't been able to keep them in the division, they were relegated along with Colchester and Leicester, and although they are in a position where they don't need to sell the player will certainly find a quick return to the Championship an attractive proposition.

Manager Owen Coyle is looking to bring in five, possibly six, new players during the summer and said today: "Suffice to say we have moved things on with different people. A couple of things have progressed. We have made an improved offer for Martin Paterson, and we now await Scunthorpe's reply."

It looks clear that Paterson is one of Coyle's main targets with strong suggestions that Norwich's Darel Russell is also another player he is very keen to add to his squad.
