Paterson asks for move

Paterson was probably the first player we were linked with this close season and only last week we went public on a second bid when text messages were sent out to supporters confirming it.

That second bid was £450,000 plus add ons but went the way of the first offer when Scunthorpe turned it down. However, there were comments from his agent Gary Mellor that the player had asked to discuss the situation with him. Paterson then spoke to Scunthorpe's acting chairman Rex Garton and general manager Jamie Hammond after which he put in a written transfer request.

Garton said: "Martin Paterson has put in a written transfer request to the club but has been advised, through his agent, that the request is turned down."

Paterson, having played a full season in the Championship with Scunthorpe, doesn't want to play his football next season in League One and with other Championship clubs, including Norwich, also interested in signing him it looks inevitable that he's played his last game for Scunthorpe.
